Family Friendly Tour of Sri Lanka – 13 nights, option I

Day 01

  • Arrival in Colombo International Airport and meet with our representative at the arrival lounge
  • Transfer to capital city Colombo – 1 hour drive approximately
  • Overnight stay at Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo

Day 02

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer to Anamaduwa- 3 ½ hour drive approximately
  • Check into The Mud House in Anamaduwa
  • Lunch at the Mud House
  • Visit Paramakanda Temple, which is situated just 2 km from The Mudhouse and towers imposingly in the distance atop a giant rocky outcrop. Accessible by cycle or tuk-tuk.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at The Mud House

Day 03

  • Breakfast at the Mud House
  • Nature Trails- Spend a couple of hours exploring the various different habitats in and around The Mudhouse.Explore the design and architecture of the various buildings at The Mudhouse as well as how it works in terms of water, recycling, reforestation and other details of running such an operation. Look more closely the lakes and how they support complex networks of life, before finishing with a tour of our own farm.
  • Lunch at the Mud House
  • Visit a blacksmith, a walking distance from the Mud House. This will be a rare opportunity to give your children a chance to find how to create objects from wrought iron or steel by forging the metal, using tools to hammer, bend, and cut
  • Dinner and overnight stay at The Mud House

Day 04

  • Breakfast at the Mud House
  • Cooking lessons in the morning or afternoon, in order to prepare the meals for lunch. Much of the produce used is harvested fresh from the farm and delivered directly to the kitchen. You can discover how to prepare some of the delicious local recipes from scratch. The cooking lessons are informal and fun and conducted by the two main cooks at The Mud House and the rest of the kitchen team.
  • A late afternoon kayak trip on the lake. This can be a great way to watch the birds and take in the surroundings at a sublimely leisurely pace.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at The Mud House

Day 05

  • Breakfast at the Mud House
  • Transfer to Wilpattu- 2 hour drive approximately
  • Meet with our crew at Wilpattu National Park Entrance at 12 noon and be driven to the campsite inside the Wilpattu national Park
  • Lunch at the Camp
  • Evening Game Drive
  • Dinner and overnight stay the Camp

Day 06

  • Early morning Game Drive
  • Back to Campsite for Breakfast
  • At leisure in the Campsite
  • Evening Game Drive
  • BBQ Dinner and overnight stay in the Campsite

Day 07

  • Breakfast at the Campsite
  • Morning Game Drive
  • Be driven to the Park gate for check out
  • Transfer to Habarana – 3 hour drive approximately
  • Overnight stay at the Other Corner in Habarana

Day 08

  • Breakfast at the lodge
  • Visit Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO world heritage site, this complex dates from the third and second centuries BC
  • Village cycling tour with a guide
  • Overnight stay at the Other Corner in Habarana

Day 09

  • Breakfast at the lodge
  • Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO world heritage site now and was the palace and pleasure garden of King Kassapa
  • Overnight stay at the Other Corner in Habarana.

Day 10

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer to Negombo- 4 hour drive approximately
  • Overnight stay at Ranweli Holiday Village in Waikkal

Day 11

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • 2 hour nature walk with a trained naturalist in the 22 acre garden at Ranweli.
  • Overnight stay at Ranweli Holiday Village in Waikkal

Day 12

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Glide along the waterways by canoe or motor boat in the environs of Ranweli and explore the unique ecosystem around the mangroves. Discover the numerous indigenous aquatic and terrestrial plants and enjoy a green wonderland of breathtaking beauty by boat for approximately 2 hours
  • Overnight stay at Ranweli Holiday Village in Waikkal

Day 13

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Craft Demonstrations- Ranweli is closely linked to a local village and the villagers often enjoy meeting the guests and sharing information about their traditional lifestyles, handicrafts and customs. Demonstrations of traditional Sri Lankan handicrafts and industries are offered. These are offered complimentary to the guests in Ranweliin order to enhance the cultural experience.
  • Overnight stay at Ranweli Holiday Village in Waikkal
